OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Alert Days are in effect for both today and Thursday due to sloppy travel conditions.

We’ll continue to see periods of rain throughout the day today, with heavy rainfall possible at times. Winds will kick up as well, with gusts up to 25 mph this afternoon and evening. Temperatures will remain on the mild side, topping out in the 40s.

Windy conditions continue tonight – along with the rain – and temperatures will actually increase through the overnight hours.

You’ll want to keep the umbrella handy Thursday as well! Highs will continue to climb, likely topping out in the lower-50s tomorrow. As the system begins to exit Thursday evening into Friday, the precipitation will transition over to snow.

While up to a foot of snowfall is possible in parts of central Nebraska, the Dakotas, and western Minnesota, we’ll likely see a dusting to half an inch when all is said and done.

Temperatures really drop for the end of the workweek and beginning of the weekend, with highs just in the 20s both Friday and Saturday.
